Pandora Artwork - Prunus - Large / Pair

Prunus draws on the rich history of traditional plum blossom painting. A combination of our ‘unconscious’ painting style – which uses graceful, gestural brushstrokes – and the dazzling lustre of the hand-embroidered silk thread provide it with a dream-like beauty. Pandora makes fine use of our Strontium Strata Silk, a background also used in our very dreamlike Biwa colourway. But here, blossoms in dusky pinks and purples lead to a more feminine scheme. The artwork’s oak frame, with a pickled finish softened by clear oil and lime wax, tempers the vibrancy of the artwork, adding a muted, matte texture.
